- Chelsea are interested to sign Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher
- Kelleher has already proven himself at the highest level in England
- The Irish international may be open to move away from Anfield
Chelsea have felt a desperate need to sign a new keeper. Robert Sanchez has failed to impress and has costed the Blues many important points. He may be headed to exit from Stamford Bridge next year.
Chelsea are on the 3rd position in Premier League right now. But, they could have been in an even better place only if they were strong at the back. The board has identified this issue and are planning to sign a new keeper.
Chelsea linked with Caoimhin Kelleher
As per The Sun, the Blues are interested to sign Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher. The Reds consider him as an quality backup but may find it very hard to keep hold of him. They may have to part ways with the keeper if they receive an offer of around £35 million.
Kelleher has already proved himself in England. He was very good last season in the absence of Allison. The Irishman will turn 26 in few days and hence will demand regular football. Kelleher has played 5 Premier League games this season and has kept 2 clean sheets. But, he will be benched once Allison returns.
In addition, Liverpool have already signed Mamardashvili as the long term replacement of Allison. This will force Kelleher to take exit route in search of regular football very soon.
Along with Chelsea, Italian giants Juventus and Napoli are interested in signing Kelleher too. But, it feels like the keeper may opt to stay in England and hence Chelsea may have lead in the race.
The Blues will try to negotiate with Liverpool with the price tag. It will be easy for Chelsea to convince the keeper who will surely get directly into the team. It will be interesting if the Blues make any approach in January itself.
