Chelsea and Liverpool are set to battle it out for Brazilian defender this summer. The player is very young and is already impressing in Premier League. The Blues hold long-term interest in the star.
Chelsea are set for another major summer transfer window. Enzo Maresca is keen to improve almost all parts of the pitch. But, the Blues will enter the market with defence being their top priority. They are already keeping tabs on various defenders across whole Europe.
On the other hand, Liverpool can lose their captain Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman will be out of contract in summer and still has not signed a contract extension. In addition, Ibrahima Konate is looked upon by multiple top clubs. Hence, the Reds can opt to sign one or more defenders.
Chelsea & Liverpool both hold interest in Brazilian defender
According to Football Insider, Chelsea and Liverpool are both showing interest in Murillo. He is 22 years old and currently plays for Nottingham Forest. He has played 32 games this season and helped Forest to secure 3rd position in the Premier League.
Chelsea tried to sign Murillo in January window. But, the offer was rejected by Forest who were keen to keep their whole squad in order to qualify for Champions League. However, it can prove hard for them to reject the offers once again in summer window.
Murillo fits perfectly in the hiring system of Chelsea. He is young which makes him a long-term investment. However, the Blues can find it hard to convince him if they fail to finish in top 4 this season.
Liverpool will view Murillo as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk. Replacing the Dutchman can be a hard task but player like Murillo who already has experience of playing in Premier League can find it somewhat easy to adapt.
