Chelsea Looking to Offload 7 Players in January Transfer Window

Chelsea made Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice as their transfer priority.

Chelsea have problems in their center-forward position. Tammy Abraham is not the man to take them to the title challenger. And Oliver Giroud is not the answer either.

So, Chelsea identified Erling Braut Haaland as their number one transfer target for the center-forward position. They bought Timo Werner last summer but he is not a proper center-forward.

Reportedly Haaland has a release clause of £65 million which can be triggered in 2022. He is currently contracted to Borussia Dortmund until 2024.

It won’t be easy for them to sign Haaland. Other big European teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United are all interested in him. But Chelsea have a great quality to sign their targets pretty easily in the transfer market.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Declan Rice from West Ham. They are in for him from the last summer but couldn’t get the deal over the line.

Manchester United are also interested in signing Rice. But they have quite a few midfielders in their squad and they have to sell before buying Rice.

It won’t be easy to sign Rice from West Ham, they will want huge money for their star asset. They might ask for at least £80-100 million.

Chelsea to sell 7 players to fund for their transfer targets:

Chelsea spent over £220 million in the summer transfer window. And to buy the players like Rice and Haaland, they have to raise money by selling unwanted players.

The Blues identified 7 players to sell in the upcoming transfer window to raise money. Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso, Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, Andreas Christensen, and Victor Moses are on the transfer list.

Alonso hasn’t played since his poor performance against West Brom, he is said to be a transfer target for Atletico Madrid. Rudiger also out of favour after a very bad last season.

Ross Barkley is already on loan at Aston Villa and Danny Drinkwater is playing with the U23 side of Chelsea.

It will be interesting to see how many players they can sell. And how much money they can recover from their bench players.

If Chelsea can sign Rice and Haaland then there should not be any excuse for Frank Lampard to not win the league. And win silverware in Europe as well.

In this poor financial situation of clubs during the pandemic, Chelsea might be beneficial to utilize the market and buy their priority players and get very strong under Frank Lampard.
