The Blues signed Cesare Casadei in 2022 from Inter Milan. They paid €15 million plus €5 million as add-ons to secure his signature. Casadei was viewed as a player with bright future at Stamford Bridge. But, things are not going as per plans at the moment.
Casadei was unable to play any match for Chelsea in his debut season with them. He joined Reading on loan in January 2023 and went on to play 15 games for them. He also scored his first ever senior goal while playing for Reading.
Later, Casadei joined Leicester on loan in the beginning of 2023/24 season. He left them after half season in which he played 25 matches and scored 3 goals along with picking 2 assists.
In the reminder of 2023/24 season, Casadei made his Chelsea debut. He went on the play 11 Premier League games last season. But he did not start any of them and played only 71 minutes in all 11 games combined.
Cesare Casadei to leave Chelsea in January?
The story has not changes this season for Casadei. He is still viewed as bench-warmer. In addition, he has not played a single minute in Premier League this season and has only made 4 appearances across all competitions.
Casadei has shown his quality regularly while playing for Italy under-21 team. He recently scored against France under-21 and has caught attention of lot of clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Football Italia have reported that Monza are seriously considering a move for Casadei to save their current season. They currently sit on 19th position in Serie A table and want to improve their squad to avoid relegation.
Monza are not the only club interested in Casadei. He is also looked upon by Villarreal and Real Betis of Spain. Lastly, Dutch club PSV Eindhoven are also keeping tabs on the talented youngster.
A loan move seems to be of best interest for both Chelsea and Casadei. The player can get regular game time which is essential for his development. Chelsea and moniter his development and call him back anytime they want as the Italian is still 21 and will develop into superstar very soon.
