The possession football was great but the problems in the final third were visible. As Chelsea start their run of some tough round of fixtures they can take some positives out of the game. Nicolas Jackson heaped huge praise after scoring at Anfield and the fact that the Blues were able to have an upper hand on possession and passing percentage at Anfield is a huge plus point. Anyway the score at the top end of the screen is what matters after all. Liverpool came out victorious despite not being at their best. Anyway we are providing you with the latest news and transfer update on Chelsea post the Liverpool match.
CESARE CASADEI AND CHELSEA TRANSFER UPDATE
The market is heating up for a certain Chelsea midfielder who was considered the future of the club but ended up as one of Maresca’s outcasts. We are talking about Cesare Casadei, the 21 year old Italian midfielder who moved to west London in 2022 from Inter for €15 m. He has been a star for the Italian U-20 and the U-21 teams lately. The golden ball winner of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, despite ending up as a runner up. Enzo Maresca once signed Casadei on loan for his Leicester City team. The midfielder even had a good first half of the season before being recalled from loan. Again, back at Chelsea he remained with the reserves.
However when Pochettino left and was replaced by Enzo Maresca, everybody expected Casadei to get into the good books of the manager and have more opportunities presented. But that wasn’t the case after all, The young Italian only made two appearances so far this season. Now, as reported by TuttomercatoWeb, Villarreal, Atalanta and Fiorentina are some of the clubs who are interested in Casadei.
JACKSON HEAPES HUGE PRAISE
The former Blues forward Pat Nevin believes that the Senegalese forward has been showing signs of improvement in his second season at Chelsea. Jackson moved to West London in a €32 m deal from Villarreal. He scored 14 times in the Premier League in his debut season. That was not a bad record after all. Actually it was not the number of goals that got him eaten up alive by some critics, rather it was the chances he missed. The striker missed some huge chances during his first season and also didn’t have the profile of someone like Didier Drogba or Diego Costa as a matter of fact.
However the critiques will have to swallow their words as the 21 year old is hitting the ground running. According to london.football, Nevin wrote that “You look up front at Jackson, the amount of chances he missed, the amount of great positions he got into with his staggering pace, it is staggering his pace, but then blew it time and time again. He’s getting better at that now. He’s running at you in more intelligent areas.”
The striker also went on to score Chelsea’s equaliser at Anfield on Sunday. As Nevin said he dropped the shoulder and broke out from the defence with his brilliant pace before slotting the ball home past Kelleher.
Former Chelsea and Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge accepted the fact that people were too critical of Jackson last year. It was during a post match show for Sky Sports that he said these words. As said earlier Nicolas Jackson is growing into a prolific striker for Chelsea.
