One Chelsea star has been heavily linked with exit in January. However, it may change and he might stay longer at West London due to the current situation of the Blues squad.
The star in question here is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who joined the Blues in summer fron Leicester City. The West London club paid £30 million to reunite the midfielder with Enzo Maresca. The 26 year old was expected to play major role at Stamford Bridge.
Dewsbury-Hall had 12 goals and 15 assists last season and was expected to repeat it at West London. But, he has not been able to get into the starting lineup above other midfielders. He has played 15 games in all competitions but only 133 minutes in Premier League.
The 26 year old is unhappy with his current role under Enzo Maresca. He is keen to move away after just half season to play regularly. Eariler, the Blues were also open to let the midfielder leave but it seems they will now change their plans.
Chelsea to keep Dewsbury-Hall until the end of the season?
As of now, both Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez who are main midfielders are injured. Maresca said that he has no idea how long it will take them to return on the pitch. This means other midfielders will need to step up alongside Moises Caicedo.
Cesare Casadei is very close to join Serie A side Torino whereas Chukwuemeka is also being made available in the market. This means the Blues might keep Dewsbury-Hall for little longer with Maresca already opening up about the situation.
The Italian coach said that their intention is to keep Dewsbury-Hall. He added that it is due to the injuries but also said that anything can happen in January. Maresca’s response as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
The 26 year old may have a big role in the second half of the season. But if he is still eager to move away, the Blues will demand the full £30 million they initally spent while signing him in summer.
