Chelsea plan to hijack AC Milan’s plan of signing young midfielder

  • Chelsea are interested to sign Reda Belahyane
  • Belahyane is heavily linked with a move to AC Milan
  • The player can even move to France where he started his career

Reda Belahyane is 20 years old Moroccan player. He plays for Serie A side Hellas Verona. This season he has been able to become the regular starter and has caught attention of many top clubs across the world.

Belahyane started his career at France with OGC Nice. He played 8 games for their senior team before moving to Italy last year. Last year the 20 year old played only 2 Serie A games.

But, this season has been breakout season for the Morocco international. Belahyane has played 11 Serie A games so far and has started in 9 of those. In addition, he has picked 2 assists which display his quality.

Chelsea need to push hard if they want to sign Reda Belahyane

As per CalcioMercato, the Blues are one of the several clubs keen to sign the 20 year old. But the report states that, at the moment AC Milan are leading the race. Lastly, Marseille are also keen to bring the player back to France.

The Blues have developed a system of signing less known young players and developing them into world class talent. Belahyane fits perfectly into that system. In addition, he may be available for only €8 million to €10 million which can be easily accessed by club like Chelsea.

But, the Blues have to do all in their powers to hijack AC Milan’s plans. Milan can offer the 20 year old regular football which the player will find essential for his development. Chelsea cannot offer regular football due to their vast squad depth.

A january move from Chelsea is very unlikely considering the current situation. They may think that monitoring the player for the rest of the season makes a lot of sense. As of now, their priority is to sign a world class and experienced defender.
