- Delap has impressed this season with Ipswich Town
- The player is still 21 but has already proved himself in Premier League
Liam Delap is Man City academy graduate. He played 6 times for City before being sent on loan to Stoke City in 2022/23 season. The striker then joined Preston on loan for the second half of 2022/23 season.
Last season, Delap joined Hull City on loan. It was his best loan season as he played 31 Championship games for Hull. Delap scored 8 goals and picked 2 assists which opened a door of Premier League football for him.
Delap joined newly promoted Ipswich Town for £15 million this summer. The deal has been turning very good for both club and the player. Delap has been able to score 6 goals and pick 1 assist in 11 Premier League games so far.
Chelsea linked with Liam Delap
As per GiveMeSport, Liam Delap has caught the attention of Chelsea. The Blues are planning to sign a new striker very soon. Infact, they tried to sign one in summer itself but the deal failed.
Nicolas Jackson has been in a superb form this season. But, the Blues are still planning to bring in another striker.
In addition, Nkunku who is used as striker by Maresca is linked with an exit. This will open up the space for backup striker.
Delap is tied to Ipswich with a contract running until 2029. But, the Tractor Boys may find it hard to reject offer from a big club like Chelsea. The Blues are said to moniter the striker for the rest of the season.
Delap is still only 21 years old and will eventually develop into a big superstar. He fits into the new system adapted by Chelsea of signing young players as well.
But, the final decision will be made after monitoring the situation as Chelsea board is keen to bring an already proven big name to Stamford Bridge.
