Chelsea are plotting a loan move for one Juventus star this month. The questioned star has vast experience of playing in Premier League and only moved to Italy in the summer.
The star in question is Douglas Luiz who joined Juve this summer from Aston Villa. The 26 year old star had a superb last season with Villa. He scored 10 goals and picked 10 assists in 53 games and helped Villa to qualify for Champions League after a very long time.
Juve were impressed with Luiz and paid £43 million to secure his signature. They offered him long-term contract until 2029. However, the 26 year old has not been able to perform on the same level as last season. He is yet to register any goal or any assist in Juventus jersey despite playing 17 games.
Chelsea showing interest in Douglas Luiz
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Blues are showing interst in signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus. They are interested to sign the 26 year old on loan until the end of the season.
The Blues are currently facing shortage in midfield due to two conditions. Firstly, both Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez have been injured. Enzo Maresca said that both will miss more games with Lavia’s injury more serious than Fernandez.
The second condition is that 3 midfielders are closing in on exit. Chukwuemeka and Casadei are very close to exit with the Italian already looked upon by Serie A clubs. Lastly, Dewsbury-Hall also wants to leave after just half season in order to play regularly at top level.
Douglas Luiz can be a great addition to the Chelsea squad. He has vast experience of playing on English soil as he has made more than 200 appearances for Villa. However, the deal will heavily depend on what Juve think of the situation.
