Predictions about Chelsea football club’s 2024/25 season ahead of their season opener against Man City on Sunday.
Chelsea are gearing up for their third season under Blue Co ownership. After two seasons of below par performances The Blues will try to reinstate their elite status. As BBC’s Phil McNulty said “It is impossible to predict what will happen in the next 20 minutes at Chelsea, let alone what might have happened by the time May rolls around.” So Prediction of Chelsea’s season is a daunting task but we are trying to give few insights about their 2024/25 season.
CHELSEA SEASON PREVIEW
It’s the dawn of a new Era at Chelsea as Enzo Maresa replaces Mauricio Pochettino after one season at the helm. A topsy turvy 2023/24 season saw them finish in 6th just in place to secure European football. The Blues have yet again spent big in the transfer market. They have signed a total of 9 players till now and more to come as sources say. With Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Pedro Neto and Tosin Adarabioyo among the big ones, they also have Joao Felix and Victor Osimhen on the list.
Chelsea have over 40 players in their ranks now. It is explicit that they have to cut it down to 25 before registering for Premier League and Europe. It would be a difficult task for Maresca to line up 11 players from them let alone register 25 of them. Compared to last season they will also return to European football after qualifying for UEFA Europa Conference League. This will also give a fresh return to European football after a one season hiatus.
CHELSEA PREDICTED PREMIER LEAGUE FINISH
As we said earlier predicting Chelsea’s league finish is a difficult task. Chelsea are strong on paper with their packed players so if all things go right they can end up in top 4 but they can also have a mid-table finish.
The owners have always been reluctant towards giving time for the managers. Pochettino was only given a single season, Tuchel was not given time at all. So Enzo Maresca and co are in pressure to deliver. With all the spending spree in the market it only grows. Patience is needed for Chelsea players and fans alike. Maresca’s style will need some time to get grips on. Pochettino last season bought in players suiting his style of play and now he is gone. Enzo Maresca is in his shoes who has a different set of ideals. Starting fresh would be ideal for Chelsea fans and players. So our Predictions for Chelsea PL finish would be 5th if all things go right.
CHELSEA PREDICTED TOP SCORER
Cole Palmer had a revelation of season at Chelsea as he was only outscored by top scorer Erling Haaland. We predict him to challenge for the top scoring charts again this season. With hopefully injuries not in the equation Christopher Nkunku might also score a portion of Chelsea’s goals. Nicolas Jackson if he could kill off better chances he can also have a spot somewhere at the top of scoring charts. Jackson could be seen improving his last season’s goalscoring tally of 17 goals across all competitions.
Raheem Sterling was scoring goals for Chelsea in the first half of last season. But gradually faded towards the end. Sterling might also end up leaving if Chelsea complete Joao Felix signing, according to The Standard. Victor Osimhen is also on the top of Chelsea priority list but long way left for that saga to be finished. The Blues have also signed youngster Marc Guiu from Barcelona. If he end up staying beyond the transfer window, we might see him ripple a few nets. Our predictions for Chelsea top scorer at the moment is Cole Palmer. But signing a poacher like Osimhen could turn crucial for The Blues this season.
