Chelsea are keen to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window. They are now ready to spend £60 million on proven goalscorer.
The Blues are headed for yet another big summer window. They will be seen making new signings in almost all parts of the pitch. Enzo Maresca will be backed to bring in players of his choice. The Italian wants more experience in his side.
Chelsea are surely going to sign a new striker this summer. Nicolas Jackson had a good start to this season but has failed to stay consistent. On the other hand, Marc Guiu is still very young. Hence, a new number nine will be amongst the top priorities of the club.
Chelsea ready to sign £60 million costing striker
The star in question here is Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa. According to Football Transfer, the Blues are showing interest in Watkins. In addition, they are ready to spend £60 million demanded by the Birmingham club on him.
Watkins is 29 years old and has been one of the best strikers in Premier League. He was superb last season when he scored 27 goals and picked 13 assists. He has scored 16 more and assisted 13 more this season. Despite being so good, Watkins is linked with exit.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery wants to add some new stars this summer. In recent times, he has moved away from Watkins on multiple occasions. The 29 year old is not getting any younger and hence Villa are open to let him leave.
Watkins can still become a key player at Chelsea. He is 29 and the Blues have not shown too much admiration for players of his age group. But, Watkins can inject the much needed experience and his goal-scoring skills can be highly beneficial for the West London club.
