Latest Transfer rumours hint at Chelsea and Man Utd engaging in talks for a sensational swap deal including Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho.
Chelsea have an enormous squad at their hands and the bizzare fact is that, they have a 13 man outcast squad training seperately from the first team. Raheem Sterling is one such player whome they want to offload before the summer transfer window shuts on the 31st of August. Chelsea are also interested in landing Jadon Sancho who is out of favour for Erik Ten Hag at Man Utd. So the Blues have proposed tha idea of a swap deal where Sterling will go in the opposite direction.
RAHEEM STERLING THE OUTCAST
The English man has been banished from the Chelsea squad earlier this month. This was after the current Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca publicly stated that Sterling is out of his plans. The winger is currently training with the Chelsea developmental squad and searching a solution for his future.
Sterling joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Manchester City and has been a regular in the first team since then. He has scored 14 goals in 59 appearences for Chelsea. Sterling arrived at Stamford Bridge with huge expectations. Even pundits hailing him as the final piece in the jigsaw for Chelsea. He has the experince and the skillset to help Chelsea get back where they deserved to be. Sterling began his life in London brilliantly. He was one of the star players for a struggling Chelsea team. But his form gradually declined and he wasn’t what he was before. He couldn’t replicate his excellent form which he displayed for Man City. Under Mauricio Pochettino even though he under[performed he was considered one of the first names on the team sheet.
Now Pochettino is gone new man Enzo Maresca wants Sterling out. He is not the type of winger Maresca wants for his system. Considering the fact that Sterling still posses great skillset, the experince of a multiple PL champion and he is only 29 with some good years left in his career. Chelsea by letting one of the most experinced squad member.It is cruel to think that Sterling was recently stripped of his number 7 which was later given to new signing Pedro Neto.
THE SWAP DEAL
Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho are like two kids struggling with step mother outsider syndrome. Both of them were signed under previous managers, Sancho under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Sterling under Thomas Tuchel. Now both of them are gone and the new mom’s that is two new managers don’t favour them at all. Sancho after that fall out with Ten Hag over disciplinary issues has left him with black mark in the manager’s eyes. And Sterling has been training with the Chelsea’s banished squad after being told by the manager Maresca that he will struggle for minutes at Stamford Bridge.
According to the BBC Sport, Chief football reporter Simon Stone, Manchester United have held talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Raheem Sterling. It is not clear whether the deal will be a swap deal or Sancho is involved in the talks. But recent reports signify that the athoritarian system which leads Chelsea have some personel who admire Jadon Sancho. So the current Man Utd sporting director Dan Ashworth who is hoping to capitalize on the current situation at Chelsea is likely to include Sancho in the deal.
JUVENTUS AS A THREAT
Italian record champions Juventus are in search of a winger now. As per the reports both the players included in the above swap deal are in their list. However it is unlikely that they would go in for both of them. Juventus are already in talks with United over a potential loan deal for Jadon Sancho. Anyways the Italians are against the will of Man Utd to include an obligation buy clause in the deal. Juve have also shown their interest in Raheem Sterling. So there is a potential threat from the Old Lady to the sensational swap deal that’s been rumoured.
