Chelsea wanted to sign Victor Osimhen this summer but were unable to do so and now has received a further blow from him as he is having a good spell at Galatasaray.
The Blues wanted to sign a striker this summer. They were looking at a star who can guarantee atleast 20+ goals per season. Chelsea viewed Victor Osimhen as a perfect fit.
The Blues did all in their power to bring Osimhen to the Stamford Bridge. But they were unable to do so due to difficulty in reaching an agreement with both Napoli and Osimhen.
On the other hand, Osimhen was already fallen down of favour of Napoli boss. He wanted to move desperately and hence the Italian side signed Romelu Lukaku to replace him. This caused Osimhen to join Turkish side Galatasaray on loan to continue playing until next transfer window.
Despite failing to sign Osimhen this summer, Chelsea were unwilling to give up on him. They were making constant efforts which suggested that we may see Osimhen joining the Blues in january. But now, it seems like Chelsea fans have to wait more to see the Nigerian wearing their jersey as per Soccernet.
Big blow for Chelsea as Osimhen opts to stay at Galatasaray
Galatasaray defeated Besiktas by 2-1 in which Osimhen scored. He was then asked about his future in the interview. He was asked wheter he will stay at Turkey for the second half of the season.
Osimhen replied to this question by saying ‘Yes I am here’. This will come as a big blow for Chelsea whereas Turkish club will view this as a very good news. The Blues will now have to wait until summer to have another go at Osimhen.
The Blues should reconsider going after Osimhen as Nicolas Jackson is having a really good time. If Jackson is able to do this regularly this season we may see Chelsea changing their plans. If compared now, Jackson has 6 goals and 3 assists whereas Osimhen has 4 goals and 3 assists this season. In addition, Jackson is doing it in way superior league than the one Osimhen is playing in right now.
