Chelsea set to get profit from Datro Fofana Deal

This is because Chelsea continues to negotiate for the players even after closing the summer transfer window. The latest update is that Datro Fofana. A forward is off to join Goztepe on a loan deal as a forward. The transfer to AEK Athens earlier in the season did not go through as planned because of some complications in the end. A willing player in this season’s variation, Datro Fofana has signed with Goztepe. Chelsea is to make a £12m profit as the latest transfer fee is agreed.

As such, Fofana had it tough this summer. While he was able to do a good job for Burnley in the previous season. Two transfers broke down over the issue of contracts. Chelsea took him from Molde in 2023 for £8 million. Only insisting that with any loan, there has to be a provision of a £20 million future fee. It delayed a switch to Leicester. And instead, the Foxes signed Jordan Ayew and took Odsonne Edouard on loan from Crystal Palace.

After the transfer period had ended. The Greek side of AEK proceeded to negotiate with Chelsea for the player on a loan basis. But they failed to fix the terms. Chelsea insisted on having the £20 million buy option on the table before letting Fofana take the next step of his career and go on loan.

Chelsea’s transfer dealings are usually based mostly on talent hunting, especially young players, for future profit based mostly on age. However, this is where Fofana landed in this strategy. But here’s the twist: According to the BBC, Chelsea has been able to sign a deal with Goztepe successfully. When Fofana completes his loan spree at Goztepe, the club will sign him permanently for £20 million, giving Chelsea a good value £12 million profit. Not a bad result for a player who has hardly played the Blues since joining the team from Sweden!

Datro Fofona heading to Turkey

The transfer window in Turkey will shut down tonight and the deal is likely to be concluded before the window closes. How admirably Chelsea is getting better at managing the club’s finances!

Chelsea, as one of the masters of the effective purchase of players in transfer, has again proven itself to be a financially rationalized club. Some of the players include; Datro Fofana, who plays as a young forward.

  • Fofana’s rise started when Chelsea bought him from Molde and, for the fiscal year 2023, cost a cheap £8 million. He came to the Blues with much potential and he had to stay on the bench most of his time there.
  • Last season Fofana had an impressive loan spell with Burnley, but he did not get a chance to play in the Premier League. His performances attracted several clubs, and therefore Leicester City came into the picture.
  • Leicester also showed their interest in Fofana but failed to sign him during the transfer. There was much insistence on Chelsea getting a loan deal that comes with an obligatory purchase option, which was £20m for Fofana.
  • The Foxes baulked at this demand and opted for alternative signings: Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard are the two players at the position. Chelsea dug in its heels refusing to give up on sustainable strategic vision.
  • And as the transfer window shut, AEK Athens came to the party. They reached an understanding with Fofana for an agenda of a deal in the form of a loan.
  • However, Chelsea’s unyielding stance remained: There can be no lease to do without the £20 million buy option. Negotiations stalled.

Now Datro Fofona is ready to start his new journey in Turkey.
