Chelsea have received have injury boost up ahead of their next Premier League game against Bournemouth after the International break.
International break has come as a blessings in disguise for Chelsea as they are set have huge benefits from the two weeks break. Some of the players have dropped themselves from the National team to treat thei injuries. Romeo Lavia who was injured is set to be fit for the game against Bournemouth on September 14th.
CHELSEA START
Chelsea’s start to the current Premier League season was far from impressive as they sit 11th on the table with only 4 points. They have had a loss, a draw and a win in the first three outings. With so much spent in the transfer window this is not the sort of start they would have hoped for. But we have to look into the fact that a lot has changed at the club in a short bit of time now. Throughout the summer we saw a lot of incoming and outgoings. Mauricio Pochettino is gone now and Enzo Maeresca is here so they have bought in players according to his system. The system has changed the existing players and the new ones should find a commeraderie among them. Each and everyone at the club is involved in that. So that takes time.
We also have to remember that Pochettino lasted for less than a year. So time is not a luxury at Chelsea. The Blues have to quickly turn around their fortunes and get the new Maresca system going. The next game will be against Bournemouth on September 14th. A two week long break which will facilitate the rehalb of some of their players who were injured and who are nursing minor injuries.
CHELSEA INJURY LIST
REECE JAMES
Chelsea already have their captain Reece James out with a hamstring injury and is set to be back towards the end of this month.
MALO GUSTO
In the match against Crystal Palace their deputy right back Malo Gusto also got injured and is sidelined for a significant amount of time. He has withdrawn himself from the French U21 squad.
ROMEO LAVIA
The Belgian midfielder missed out the last two games due to a hamstring injury and is ste to be back after the International Break. Lavia had a nightmare of a debut season with only 58 minutes on the pitch.
MAJOR BOOST
The International Break has come up in such a good time in terms of injury for Chelsea. The two weeks break also facilitated some of their players to take off from their respective national teams to continue their rehab for minor injuries. This break in play can also help Enzo Maresca and his team to recoup and try to turn things around.
Romeo Lavia started against Man City on the opening day alongside Moises Caicedo in the midfield. But since been injured and missed the rest of their matches till now. The Belgian missed majority of his debut season on the sidelines after completing a big move from Southampton. He suffered a hamstring injury which kept him out for 185 days. That is really a lot and this injury came in when he was adapting into a new club. He is also like a new signing actually considering the fact that he only played for a meager amount of time. Lavia also suffered multiple injuries like ankle injury and muscle tear. So he didn’t really have time to settle properly into his new club.
There is no doubt about his quality in the midfield. He was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League with Chelsea and Liverpool competing for him. So there is quality he should just keep himself fit enough to play. According to The Telegraph, Romeo Lavia due to start training again with a view to being fit for the Bournemouth game. Lavia should be an integral part of the midfield in the new system Maresca is trying to focus on. It was explicit when he started against Man City in the season opener.
OTHER PLAYERS
Earlier it was reported that Wesley Fofana has dropped himself off the French national team for the Nations League matches. He has decided to use the two weeks for the further rehab of the injury he suffered last season.
Now Cole Palmer became the third Chelsea player this week to be dropped from the national team. Injury and fitness concerns are the resons cited as per The Standard. But we still don’t have any details about the injury.
