Chelsea star is one of top three United’s January targets

  • Chelsea left back Ben Chilwell is one of the top three priority full backs of Manchester United
  • The Red Devils are very likely to make a move for full back in January itself

Chelsea were keen to part ways with Ben Chilwell this summer. It was because the player was not said to fit in Maresca’s plans. The Italian made his intentions clear and told the player to find a new club.

But, Chilwell was unable to find a new club as he was injured at that time. Man United were one of the few clubs interested in the former Leicester City man. But the move never happened which resulted in Chilwell staying at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell has not been able to get a chance to show his quality this season. He has only played 45 minutes of football so far and has fallen down the pecking order. A january move is very likely at this point with the player struggling for regular football.

Man United to sign a left back in january

As per journalist Rudy Galetti, United are keen to sign a full back in January. He tweeted on his Official X Account, that they are monitoring three players at the moment. These three players are Ben Chilwell, Rayan Ait Nouri and Alvaro Carreras.

United are struggling with the injury issues of current left backs present at club. Tyrell Malacia played his first game yesterday after missing the entire last season and was taken off after 45 minutes. Luke Shaw too played his first game this season earlier this week.

United can find it very easy to sign Ben Chilwell from Chelsea. The Blues are keen to sell him and hence a deal can be carried out smoothly. But, the two other options may prove tricky for the Red Devils.

Ait-Nouri is highly rated and is having a really great season with Wolves. Earlier, Arsenal tried to sign him but Wolves demanded £50 million which resulted in failure of the deal. Ait-Nouri is also looked upon by Chelsea.

Lastly, Carreras is the preferred left back of Ruben Amorim. He is attack minded full back who can fit very well in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. Carreras is 21 year old and is expected to cost a lot of money.
