Chelsea star Noni Madueke feels ‘honoured’ to represent his nation

Blues winger Noni Madueke have started the new season on a high note. New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca have his trust on the Englishman. As Madueke has already made 8 appearances across all competitions so far this season. And has netted the ball 5 times, which includes a brilliant hat-trick against the Wolves in the Premier League.

Due to his wonderful start of the season the Blues number 11 also got his first ever Three Lions callup last month. Madueke made his debut appearance from the bench at the Wembley stadium against Finland. He replaced Bukayo Saka on the right side at the 66th minute.

However, it took Madueke only 10 minutes to show his class. As he assisted the 2nd goal of Harry Kane that night. Still he is yet to make his debut start for England.

It was rumored that Madueke would start against Greece or Finland on the 3rd and 4th matchday of the Nations League campaign. But unfortunately he only got to made appearances from the bench again.

Noni Madueke opens up about his national team experience

Madueke was delighted to represent his nation in the Nations League campaign last month. And when he got called up again in October, he told the Chelsea FC,

“I’m honoured to be back in the squad, it’s always an honour to play for your country and it’s one of the best squads in the world, so it’s always an honour to be a part of it.”

Madueke believes his urge to play for England is growing him into a better player day by day. As he stated “You have to keep doing as well for your club in order for you to get called up to your country.” And it is the truth indeed as there is a lot of competition for that right side in the English national team.

Madueke even opened up about his debut experience with the national side. He claimed,

“My England debut was great. First and foremost, we won the game, but assisting the second goal was special.”

Madueke told that he was very happy to set up Harry Kane on his memorable night as the veteran striker got his national 100th cap. Further Madueke added that he will be hopeful to make more memories with the national side.

Madueke will have to do more with Chelsea to be the first choice option for England. But there is a very slim chance of that happening as Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka plays in that right wing spot.

Madueke acknowledges his peers

Noni Madueke has shown his gratitude to England interim manager Lee Carsley for his support and guidance. Carsley had managed the English winger at the youth level. They have achieved success together when England won the Under-21 European Championships in 2023.

“Lee is a great person and a great coach. He’s very good at communicating his ideas. He’s also good at describing those ideas to the team. I think he’s a great coach and a great guy“, Noni Madueke said.

Madueke is also very fond of his Chelsea and youth level teammate Cole Palmer. He has congratulated the fellow Englishman as Palmer was named the England’s Men’s Player of the Year. While praising his teammate, Madueke stated that Palmer is a very unique player as he is very calm and composed on and off the field.

The 22-year-old winger is very happy to be back in England as he was away from home in the earlier stages of his career. As he was playing in the Dutch league with PSV Eindhoven. And now Madueke will be looking forward to contribute for his club and country as much as possible.
