In football there are always rumours spreading about the future of players or clubs. Chelsea are always making headlines about transfers due to their busy operation in transfer markets. Fabrizio Romano has now shared an important update about the future of Romeo Lavia who Chelsea signed last year.
The Blues signed Lavia last year for around £54 million plus add-ons. Lavia had a good 2022/23 season with Southampton and arrived to Stamford Bridge with a lot of hopes and dreams. But, the player was only able to play one match last season due to injuries.
This season, the story has been same so far although Lavia is back in training. Due to the regular injuries, there were rumours that Chelsea may part ways with him next year. But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated otherwise and shared a positive update about 20 year old midfielder.
Romeo Lavia to stay at Chelsea
Fabrizio Romano in his daily briefing for CaughtOffside revealed about Lavia’s future. Firstly, he said that Lavia is sticking with Chelsea and the stories in the press about the player leaving are not true. He added that The Blues are very happy with the talent and skills of Lavia.
Romano also said that Lavia has been unlucky due to injuries but Chelsea are backing him. Lastly, he said that negative stories about the player are not good for him. He finished by saying that there is nothing in this stories at all.
Enzo Maresca said sometime ago that Lavia could be back for next Premier League match. Chelsea are set to play Brighton on saturday. But Maresca will only take chance to give him some minutes if he is fully fit and will not like to take any risks. The Blues will hope that Lavia returns to his best very soon. As of now, Moises Caicedo is playing very good as defensive midfielder.
