Chelsea still on the lookout for more manpower in January

Chelsea is actively looking to participate in the January transfer window. The Blues have set their eyes on several targets to bring them to Stamford Bridge. They are keen on acquiring players on a free transfer rather than spending huge amounts.

Enzo Maresca has brought a sense of youthfulness and energy to the Chelsea squad. The Italian has been impressive after taking command of the London giants. He has played a major role in many club acquisitions during the summer transfer window.

There were a total of 11 new arrivals to the club this summer which meant the club spent around 220 million euros. Chelsea made several deals in the past three years spending 1 billion euros under the chairman Todd Boehly.

The team is stacked with players but Maresca won’t mind new signings in January. The main target for the team is the players who are leaving their clubs as free agents. If Chelsea manages to make a deal with them it will be light on the pocket and beneficial for the club.

There are many potential targets who can make their way to the Stamford Bridge in January. Enzo Maresca has particular eyes for players from Bayern Munich like Leroy Sane, Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich. Some more targets include Jonathan David and Ferland Mendy.

Neymar Jr. is also one of the targets for the Blues in January. The Brazillian has only made a few appearances for Saudi club Al Hilal. His contract ends in 2025 and the club has no plans of renewal. The former Barcelona star is currently being paid 90 million euros.

Chelsea interested in selling their Argentine midfielder

The Blues are willing to part ways with their Argentinian star Enzo Fernandez in the next transfer window. The midfielder has been recently linked with a move to Real Madrid according to Defensa Central. The current asking price for Enzo is set at 120 million euros.

Fernandez has been a good asset for the Blues ever since his arrival from SL Benfica in January of 2023. He has been ranked one of the best midfielders as he played a major role with his national team. He was an integral part of the Argentina squad when they won the World Cup in 2023.

Enzo’s performance for Chelsea has been decent so far. He has showcased his midfield brilliance making 15 assists across all competitions this season. The competition for this midfield area is high in the Chelsea squad as there are plenty of players that have high potential.

Real Madrid’s need for midfield assistance is understandable as they have been lacking in this area this season. After the retirement of Toni Kroos, there has been an evident gap in the team. If Fernandez does make it to the Santiago Bernabeu he will be a huge asset.

The deal will not be cheap as Chelsea will ask 120 million euros for the midfielder. This will not be a problem for the reigning La Liga champions. They are willing to splurge a big amount to bolster their midfield.

The Blues’s race in the Premier League

Chelsea have started their English league journey better than the last season. Enzo Maresca has had a huge role in the team’s success this campaign. They sit in the top 5 of the table and are well in contention for the title.

The Blues are well set into the third position of the Premier League table with 19 points. They have come from disappointing draws this season which has limited them to third place. The competition is still long and there will be many chances for the Blues to get back.

The North London giants have had a good start to their campaign when compared to the last season, They ended in the 6th place with 63 points a staggering 23 points behind the title holders Manchester City.

Chelsea return to Premier League contention at the end of this month. They will face off against Leicester City on November 23. The Blues will look to secure three important points to be well back in the title contention.
