Chelsea star Romeo Lavia might not play in the upcoming London derby. Same could be the case for Malo Gusto. The Blues will be facing West Ham in the game week 5 of the Premier League. But, manager Enzo Maresca has plenty of injury problems to deal with right now. The 20-year-old midfielder was looking in great touch early on in the season. He was also putting up quite a show in the pre-season US Tour. But, as of now, he continues to struggle with his fitness. Meanwhile, the full-back has been on-the-field for a lot of time now. Maresca will be hoping he can quickly field the Frenchman.
Romeo Lavia continues to struggle at Chelsea
Lavia has a lot of potential. He can make a difference when on-the-field. But, injury problems hold him back. The 20-year-old was unable to play last season due to injury. And now, Romeo Lavia picked up another knock while playing for Chelsea against Servette in the UECL play-offs. Since then, he has managed to return back to the training ground now. But, he is far off from his peak fitness levels. As a result, he continues to rehabilitate.
Malo Gusto in a similar situation…
Malo Gusto was a part of every game for the Blues this season except game week 4. He was subbed-off in against Crystal Palace after picking up a knock. The full-back was seen limping off from the field. The Blues have a problem at the right-back area. Captain Reece James is far from making a recovery. As per football.london, Romeo Lavia and Malo Gusto are still engaging in ‘modified’ sessions. So, that means that they are still undergoing recovery. As a result, it is highly unlikely that they will start against West Ham. Fans will be keen to see the duo back in action.
