The Blues are very keen to sign a striker next year. They are front runner for Victor Osimhen. But as per the latest reports, Chelsea have now taken lead in the pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres too.
The Blues are keen to sign another striker despite the top form of Nicolas Jackson. They are heavily linked with Osimhen who is having a great loan season with Galatasaray. The Nigerian is very likely to sign for a Premier League club next summer.
But Osimhen is not the most wanted striker in Europe right now. It is Viktor Gyokeres who is making all the headlines with his superb form recently. The Sweedish striker is in red hot form and is linked with many of the top clubs.
Chelsea lead the race for Viktor Gyokeres
Gyokeres has been linked very heavily with Arsenal. The Gunners are desperate to sign a striker due to their attacking crises. He is also linked with Manchester United who have just signed his manager Ruben Amorim.
Now, Fichajes have reported that Chelsea have taken the lead in the race for the Sweedish striker. They can be seen making a move in January itself. Gyokeres will cost £71 million in January but later can be signed for £63 million in summer.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea make a move in January so that they will eliminate the competition for his signature. Gyokeres will surely be an upgrade on Jackson and may directly get into their current team.
But Chelsea’s path to sign the 26 year old will not be easy. The player has proved himself against big teams like Man City. He has 23 goals in just 18 matches this season. In addition, he already has experience of playing in England which makes him top target for Premier League clubs.
