Victor Osimhen who was hugely linked with a Chelsea move in summer is now setting the Turkish league on fire with his goals.
The Nigerian joined Galatasaray on loan for the season after a failed summer move to Premier League giants Chelsea. The Blues were the frontrunners for the most part of the summer with the talks going all the way till the final minutes of the deadline day. The deal was affected by some external factors but yes it didn’t go through. Since being out of favour at Napoli, Osimhen sought a move away from Naples. The Turkish clubs were the only option he had for getting some game time and Galatasaray came in with the best opportunity to keep playing. Since moving on loan the Nigerian has been setting the Turkish league alight by unleashing some of the inner flame inside him. We all know that the potential is there and he is sending clear messages across Europe about his potential.
THE FAILED MOVE IN SUMMER
Turkish champions Galatasaray were the only option left for Victor Osimhen for game time after falling out with Napoli bosses. He was left out of the Napoli squad that registered for the league this season. The only option was to leave the club. He tried to get a move done before the European deadline ended with Chelsea and Saudi side Al Ahli as interested parties. Even though Al Ahli had everything ready and a deal in place with the club. Last minute brinkmanship game from Napoli ruined things for Osimhen. Towards the end of the window Chelsea were the only option left. The Blues were so determined that they put forward multiple proposals, but nothing even reached near to Osimhen’s demands.
Anyway the deal didn’t go through and later Galatasaray came in with a loan opportunity which he duly accepted. That was the only way he could get some game time and also keep developing. It was actually a step down from what he was doing but at times taking a step down is better than not playing. The loan deal only runs until the end of the season. And as per reports it is said that a particular clause in his loan deal enables him to terminate the deal if a top team comes for him in January. Chelsea are among the admirers of Victor Osimhen and would be keeping an eye on his situation.
OSIMHEN AT GALATASARAY
Victor Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/25 season. The loan deal runs throughout the season with some break clauses as mentioned earlier. It is said that if any club from the list provided by Osimhen arrives for him as soon as in January, he can terminate the loan deal and join that particular club.
At Galatasaray, he made an instant impact. He has scored 3 goals in his first 4 appearances in the Super Lig. stats from Transfermarkt.com. He has been lighting the Turkish Super Lig up since the day he set foot in Istanbul. A whole host of Gala fans arrived at the Airport to celebrate Victor Osimhen. The amount of media coverage they got from it is unimaginable. Anyway they also now have one of the best attacking partnerships in the world in Mauro Icardi and Osimhen along with Mitchy Batshuayi on the bench. Just mind blowing.
Osimhen’s recent strike against Antalyaspor in the 92nd minute showcased his potential. The Nigerian leapt into the air and produced a wonder strike. A bicycle kick goal that sparked insane reaction from his teammates and fans alike.
It is at these instances we realise about the quality this 6 foot 1 inch striker possesses. Just imagine Osimhen linking up with the likes of Palmer, Sancho and Madueke. Don’t imagine we might even witness that happening in January. As said earlier there is a break clause in his contract if any club in that list could match his release clause of £62.8 million they can sign him and Chelsea are one among the interested parties.
