Chelsea thrashes Panathinaikos: Mudryk and Felix steal the show

Chelsea comfortably won the game 4-1 against Prasini in the Conference League, this was an important game for the Blues, as it helped them build up their self-belief, especially for a particular player, Mykhailo Mudryk. He really played well in this game, and it was one of his best performances for Chelsea, as he made it easy for the Blues to take control of the game. Let’s see how other players performed in this match.

First Half: Mudryk And Felix Take Control

Chelsea began with energy and sharpness. In the 22nd minute, Mudryk displayed a brilliant run down the left with a superb cut-back that left the ball in the lap of Joao Felix, who did not fail to deliver on his part by striking the ball straight into the net. Obviously, here was Mudryk demonstrating the view and belief in making something happen out of thin air for the Chelsea supporters.

The first half was dominated by Chelsea, as Panathinaikos could find no rhythm in the match. Chelsea’s midfield, controlled by Enzo Fernandez, had started organizing the game, thus giving them more chances at times, still, there were no further goals scored in that half; however, Chelsea appeared to dominate the entire half.

Second Half: Total Demolition By Chelsea

The second half started with a bang. Minutes into the game, Pedro Neto served a superb cross into the box, and Mudryk was ready. He knocked the ball into the goal – his first Chelsea goal. Anyone could see that the event meant so much to Mudryk as he celebrated with teammates.

As the game progressed, Chelsea found more open spaces. Felix scored again, taking advantage of a deflection to make it 3-0. Moments later, he won a penalty after his cross forced a Panathinaikos player to handle the ball. Christopher Nkunku stepped up and scored from the spot, adding to Chelsea’s lead.

Panathinaikos had managed to score one goal back in this match. Facundo Pellistri, formerly of Manchester United, did so late in the match. It was, however too little and too late, as Chelsea had already done their job.

Chelsea Player Ratings:

Goalkeeper And Defenders:

Filip Jorgensen: (3.9/5) Made an early save to keep Chelsea ahead. He was beaten by Panathinaikos’ goal, though.

Benoit Badiashile: (3.8/5) Strong at first but less visible later.

Axel Disasi: (3.9/5) Confident with the ball. He had little to do defensively.

Marc Cucurella: (3.9/5) Mostly focused on defense. He was beaten in the lead-up to Panathinaikos’ goal.

Midfielders:

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: (3.9/5) Consistent and controlled the tempo, but did not really stand out yet kept things smooth.

Enzo Fernandez: (4.2/5) Almost scored in the first half and he also dominated midfield and made a lot of key passes.

Christopher Nkunku: (4.3/5) He did convert the penalty well and was generally solid, though, he could not be seen being able to stand out and be impressive.

Attackers:

Pedro Neto: (4.2/5) Provided the assist for Mudryk’s goal and always looked to take on his defender and create chances.

Joao Felix: (4.6/5) Scored twice, his movement was sharp, and he led the line effectively.

Mykhailo Mudryk: (4.7/5) Chelsea’s star of the night: Assisted Felix for the first goal and scored a fantastic header. Finally showed why Chelsea invested in him.

Subs And Manager:

Marc Guiu: (3.2/5) Came on late but had little impact.

Tyrique George: (3/5) Energetic but didn’t get many chances to score.

Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka: Late subs with less impact

Enzo Maresca: (3.8/5) The manager will enjoy a win and Mudryk’s performance, and the game was rotated well to several young players, yet may be slightly frustrated due to the late goal conceded.

Summary: Mudryk Shines For Chelsea

This was a massive game for Mykhailo Mudryk, as joining Chelsea with such a lot of hype and not being able to impact the game was a disappointing thing for him. Against Panathinaikos, Mudryk was quite confident and decisive in his runs, accurate with his passes, and aware of his positioning for a goal.

Joao Felix was another who played very well, scoring two goals and winning a penalty. This proves he is turning out to be a consistent finisher for Chelsea. He has good chemistry going on with Mudryk and Neto in front, which may turn out to be good for the future games of Chelsea.

The win once more revealed the depth of the squad in Chelsea. Even playing reserves, Chelsea was all over the field. Fernandez played great in midfield and defence was steady as well though late slips did happen in this game.
