Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both interested to sign Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande. The 20 year old defender is highly rated and having a great season right now. He has €80 million relase clause but the interested clubs can sign him for less than that.
Ousmane Diomande joined Sporting in January 2023. He quickly showed his worth in half season and claimed his place as regular starter. The young defender helped Sporting to win the Portugese league in his first full season.
Diomande has been tied to Sporting with a contract running until 2027. He has a release clause of €80 million included in his contract. He is having a great season but Sporting may lose him as top clubs have set their eyes on him.
Chelsea and Bayern keen to sign Diomande
As per the Portugese newspaper Record, Diomande is looked upon by Bayern, Chelsea and Arsenal. But if we look at the current situation, it is hard to see Gunners making a move for another defender. They already have good defensive options and at the moment need attacking players.
In contrast if we look at Chelsea, they surely need to improve their defence. But they too have lot of players and hence first part ways with some of them.
Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana are regular starters in the league. This suggests that Maresca prefers them are verg likely to stay at West London. This makes Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi possible target to move away from Stamford Bridge.
Bayern are also very likely to make moves for defensive options. They currently have Min-Jae Kim and Dayot Upamecano who start regularly. They do not have enough backup and Bayern have lot of stars injured too. Hence, we can surely expect moves from them in january itself.
There is another good news for potential suitors of Diomande. It is that there is belief in Portugal that Sporting may be open to sell the defender for a price less than his release clause (€80 million). This news may now attract some other clubs too who need defensive reinforcements.
