Chelsea may find it hard to agree a deal with their top target this month. However, they are still in a good position to land him and chances of deal happening are still very high.
The star in question here is former Blues star Marc Guehi. Guehi came in from Chelsea academy before making a switch to Crystal Palace. Over the years he has developed into a world-class defender.
Guehi is club captain for Palace and is also a regular member for England national team. He played all matches for his country in Euro 2024 and that’s where he caught attention of top clubs.
Guehi has so far played 134 matches for Palace. He is 24 years old and is already one of the best defenders in Premier League. As of now, many clubs are keen to sign him and his former club are believed to be frontrunners in the race.
Chelsea are keen to sign Guehi this month and they are in very good condition. The 24 year old has only 18 months left on his current contract and hence Palace are open to sell him to bag some profit. The Blues can sign him for relatively low price.
In addition, Chelsea have Chalobah on loan at Palace. They can offer him as a part of swap deal. Lastly, the Blues are also keen to part ways with Axel Disasi and this can make up for the finances to sign Marc Guehi.
Chelsea to find it hard to agree deal with Marc Guehi
However, there is still one minor difficulty that needs to be faces by the Blues. According to The Mirror, Chelsea could struggle to agree on the wage demands of Marc Guehi. The 24 year old will demand a bigger salary while switching clubs.
Along with Chelsea, their Premier League rivals Liverpool were also showing interest in Guehi. However, the Reds are now more focused on extending contract of Virgil van Dijk. This makes Stamford Bridge the very likely next destination of Marc Guehi.
