Chelsea to get some profit on the sale of Marc Guehi

Chelsea are currently busy in their pre-season games at United States. On the other hand, the board is trying to improve their current squad. They finished on 6th position in Premier League last season. As a result, they are going to miss Champions League this season. To make matter even worse, Manchester United defeated Manchester City and claimed the spot in Europa League. As a result, Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino. Enzo Maresca has been made their new manager. The club has made 8 new signings. They need to keep the PSR rules in mind and make some profit. Chelsea will be able to earn some profit if Crystal Palace sell Marc Guehi.

Chelsea were on the verge of breaching the profitability and sustainability rules set by Premier League. This did not seem to affect the board. They have made 8 new signings out of which only 1 was free agent. Tosin Adarabioyo came in for free as he ran out of his contract. Other than him Chelsea have paid money for all other 7 stars. Filip Jorgensen, Caleb Wiley, Renato Veiga, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman and Estevao are the rest 7 players that have joined Chelsea.

Chelsea need to earn some profit as they will not like to get punished. We have witnessed Nottingham Forrest and Everton being handed over points deduction last season. Firstly, some of the current Chelsea stars are linked with away moves. Conor Gallagher is one of them and his sale will be registered as pure profit. This is because Gallagher is the academy product of the club. In addition, Chelsea could earn some profit from one of their former star.

Guehi linked with top clubs across whole Europe

Marc Guehi was Chelsea player back in the time. He is the academy product of Chelsea just like Conor Gallagher. He was with Chelsea first team for three seasons but was sent on loan in two of those. In 2021, Chelsea sold Guehi to Crystal Palace for £18 million. He was offered a five year contract at the club. Chelsea included a sell-on clause which will earn them a percentage of money on the further sale of Guehi.

Guehi has been very good for Palace in the past three seasons. He was the part of England national team in the Euro 2024. He played 6 matches for England and was very good in those. Guehi caught the eyes of the top clubs across the Europe. Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with Guehi. In addition, Barcelona and Juventus are the clubs outside England which are interested to sign him. Real Madrid were also linked once, but their boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that there will be no more signings this summer. Right now, Newcastle United are the favourites to sign Guehi as they have opened talks with Palace.

How much with Chelsea earn from the sell of Marc Guehi

According to The Times, Chelsea have a sell on clause which will earn their 20% of any profit made by Crystal Palace on the sale of Marc Guehi. Palace are demanding £70 million for Guehi which will earn them a profit of £52 million. The rest £18 million is the price they paid to sign him. Hence, Chelsea will earn around £10.4 million if any club is able to pay the demanded price by Crystal Palace.

Chelsea do not have a buy back option for Guehi as they are in need of a defender. Chelsea fans will think that they should have not sold Guehi back in 2021. The club now needs to focus on signing a defender who has experience and leadership quality and who can fill in the boots of the legendary Thiago Silva. However, earning £10 million will help them ease the pressure they have due to the PSR rules.
