Chelsea will hold talks with their most important player after the end of the season. The topic of discussion will be regarding his future at West London club.
The player in question here is Cole Palmer who is without a doubt Chelsea’s most important player. He has been the backbone of the club ever since joining them in summer 2023. But, there are doubts regarding Palmer’s future at the West London club.
Chelsea started this season on a strong note under new boss Enzo Maresca. But recently they have been hit hard by bad luck which caused dropping in their position. They were recently on the 7th place in the Premier League points table. Now, they are back in top 4 but have played one game more than City and Newcastle.
Many reports are stating that Chelsea may loss their key players if they fail to qualify for Champions League. Palmer is amongst those who can fit into almost every club in the world. Hence, the top clubs may make it hard for Chelsea to keep hold of him.
Enzo Maresca recently said that Palmer’s future will depend on UCL spot. Firstly, the Italian boos will focus on finishing in top four. But, if they fail to do so then Palmer will be asked if he is happy to stay at Chelsea.
Times Sport have reported that Chelsea will hold talks with Palmer after the end of the season. The player will be asked if he is happy to stay and if the player responds negatively, the club may opt to sell him. Chelsea will definately want a world-class fee from any interested club.
Can Chelsea qualify for UCL next season?
Even if Chelsea received world-class fee, they will surely miss Palmer. Players like him are too hard to replace. Hence, the Blues will want to focus on finishing in top four. As of now they are on 4th position, but they have played one game more than both Man City and Newcastle. Hence, they will again drop below once any one of these clubs win the game.
Chelsea can still finish in top four but they have to win almost all of the remaining games. In addition, both City and Newcastle should drop points atleast on one occasion each.
