It is expected that the Blues will do some business during the Winter transfer window in January. As of now some recruitments in their backline is the most urgent thing for Chelsea. Lack of experience and injuries at defense have costed them some valuable points in the league. And to stop that from happening in the upcoming second phase of the season Maresca will take a step.
Chelsea to reinforce their defense
The current partnership of Fofana and Colwill hasn’t been reliable so far. And the backup options have been nothing less than disappointment. On the other hand, Blues captain Reece James has already missed most of the games so far this season due to injury. Though he is back now, but the management still can’t depend on the Englishman alone at the right side.
Jules Kounde:
The Blues are monitoring Barcelona‘s star defender Jules Kounde, who can definitely bring some experience and quality to the side. He can operate both as a center back or a right back. The Catalan side will be asking around £65 million if they decide to sell him.
Archie Brown:
To reinforce the left back spot which is currently occupied by veteran fullback Marc Cucurella, Chelsea are interested in Gent‘s 22-year-old defender Archie Brown. The English lad will be a good option for them as he is still young, who can serve the club for long term.
Jonathan Tah:
Chelsea are really desperate to bring in a experienced center back to partner up with the younger lads on the pitch. And that is why they were linked with Leverkusen’s 28-year-old veteran defender Jonathan Tah. Although it will be a difficult job for them to sign German as Bayern Munich are linked with him.
The Blues are happy with their midfield, and they aren’t evidently linked with any big names so far. But they are keeping tabs on Victor Osimhen who is supposed to join the club in January. On ther other hand, reports of Chelsea News, to boost up their attacking prowess, Chelsea are also interested in Florian Wirtz. Let’s see who the Blues manages to sign in the Winters.
