Chelsea unwilling to spend more than €15 million on Serie A star

Chelsea to go all out to sign Nigerian

Chelsea are showing strong interest in Serie A star ahead of summer window. They are said to have made an approach to the player’s current club. But, the Blues are unwilling to pay more than €15 million.

Chelsea have started the transfer window on a strong note. Earlier, they signed Quenda and Essugo. Then, they beat multiple clubs in race for Liam Delap. The Blues are now interested to add another striker, winger, midfielder and multiple defenders next.

Lastly, the Blues are also looking to sign a new goalkeeper. Robert Sanchez has failed to impress. He is likely to be moved-on and the Blues are currently monitoring a Serie A keeper. He has been one of the best in his position in recent seasons.

The star in question here is Mike Maignan of AC Milan. He is 29 years old and has been regular starter for Milan since 2021/22 season. In addition, Maignan has also been a regular player for France national team. Chelsea are showing interest to sign Maignan this summer.

Chelsea keen to sign Maignan on discount

According to Football Italia, the Blues are unwilling to pay more than €15 million for Maignan. This can result in failure of deal but the West London Club are taking their chances. But the report adds that, Milan want atleast €25 million plus add-ons.

Maignan will be out of contract at the end of 2025/26 season. Milan have tried to tie him with another contract. But, no agreement have been reached between the two parties. Hence, the Italian giants are ready to sell Maignan to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Maignan will be a great addition to the Chelsea squad. He will be an upgrade on any of the current keeper. In addition, he can have instant impact due to his vast experience. Lastly, the Blues will feel very happy as they can sign him on discount due to his contract situation.
