Chelsea view their 24 year old midfielder as an important part of future. They are unwilling to part ways with him this summer despite the exit rumours. The player is heavily linked with a move to La Liga with two clubs showing interest.
The star in question here is Enzo Fernandez. The Blues signed Fernandez in January 2023 after World Cup. The Argentine had a summer world cup triumph which made the West London club to splash £107 million. Since then, the 24 year old has established himself as a key part of midfield.
Fernandez is looked upon by Real Madrid as a replacement for Toni Kross who retired last summer. Luka Modric can also hang his boots this summer which will make new midfielder a top priority. Madrid rate Fernandez very highly and may go in the market strongly after him.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid are also willing to sign Fernandez this summer. They already tried to convince him in the recent international break. Many of the Argentine players who currently play for Atletico were told to try and convince Fernandez to join them.
Chelsea unwilling to part ways with Fernandez
There are reports stating that Fernandez is open to move to Spain this summer. In addition, it was also said that the Blues may sanction the sale if they receive more than £80 million. However, the recent reports state exactly opposite.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have no intention to let Fernandez leave this summer. They rate him very highly in the club’s long-term plans. The player is also focused on reaching Champions League football right now.
Chelsea are expected to sign another midfielder this summer. But, they will sign him with keeping Enzo Fernandez in their plans. The player is also said to be happy in London and hence it is very likely that he stays at Stamford Bridge.
