Chelsea vs Barcelona: Stamford Bridge Set for Tense CL Clash

Chelsea and Barcelona are going to face each other at Stamford Bridge tonight in a crucial Champions League match with both of the teams having equal points – seven. The pressure is at its peak as each team fights for a spot in the Top 8 and hence, qualification by default.

Barcelona Face High Stakes After Recent Struggles

Barcelona‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ came to London with a requirement of a victory to be able to advance to Round of 16 in their last European outing they had major defensive issues, and Hansi Flick is well aware that it would be a catastrophe if they repeated it. A‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ complicated situation got even more complicated with the absences of Ter Stegen, Gavi, and Pedri.

The team under the coach has got better in La Liga, however, they are still not firm in ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Europe. To respond to Chelsea’s fast transitions, the players will have to do a high pressing to suffocate the opponent and stay very close in the defensive ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌line.

Chelsea Eye Statement Win Despite Key Absences

Chelsea‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ were very confident to win the game as they have won a few matches in the league recently. It has been reported that the team is least affected by the absences of Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, and Romeo Lavia. The young and talented winger Estevao continues his excellent run of form and, therefore, will constitute a great hurdle for Barcelona’s ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌backline.

Maresca’s team are heavily reliant on patient buildup play and sharp movement in the final third. The pressing system they have could be a major factor if it works well against the Barcelona mid.

Author’s Opinion

The victory is essential for both teams, nevertheless, the pressure is more on the side of Barcelona. Chelsea’s drive and the support from the stands may be the reasons for the victory, however, I still think it will be a close ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌game.
