Chelsea vs Man City Review: Nicolas Jackson under the spotlight

Chelsea lost to Man City in their opening game with Nicolas Jackson failing to shine yet again. The Blues have begun their 24/25 Premier League with a 0-2 loss. Enzo Maresca was treated to a defeat at the Stamford Bridge. Pep’s team looked clinical once again. On the positive side, the Citizens were not always in a comfortable situation. But, the London side failed to capitalize on it. They lacked quality. They were unable to create any real chances. As a result, they also were unable to hit the back of the net. Meanwhile, the Citizens looked very much in control. They were patient and waiting for the right moments. As a result, they were easily able to secure 3-vital points in matchday 1.

The defeat against Man City will be a big blow to Chelsea and Nicolas Jackson. The Blues would have surely hoped to secure a result in their backyard. They were not at their best last season. They would finish on the 6th spot in the Premier League. At the same time, they would miss out on UEL qualification as Man Utd won the FA Cup. Also, Liverpool would beat them for the EFL Cup trophy. A win on day 1 against the defending champions would really have lifted the spirits in London. But, sadly, they were treated to the same agony of loss once again.

Nicolas Jackson unimpressive for Chelsea against Man City

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was poor in front of goal against Man City. The 23-year-old did have some attempts in front of goal. But, he was unable to convert any of them. It’s not the first time that the striker is being criticized. And after his game against the Citizens, it’s safe to say, that it won’t be his last. Former Blues’ player John Obi Mikel was not happy with the his performance either. He was very vocal with his comments and made it very clear to the public.

As per sofascore.com, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson only had 21 touches on the ball against Man City. The tally was even lesser than the Blues’ goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. The striker’s inclusion in the game is close to zero. If he doesn’t score goals, he is not much of an asset for the team. As per transfermarkt.co.in, the 23-year-old has 23 G/A in 45 appearances for the Blues. He may be young but he will have to up his levels. The number of touches wouldn’t matter at all if he manages to find the back of the net.

What’s next for the Blues

Without a doubt, Nicolas Jackson could have been better for Chelsea against Man City. But, we will have to consider that he is still learning. He might have a lot of potential to offer. But, he is not quite there yet. At the same time, the London side have a team full of players as such. So, can we really expect results from them as of now? We, at footballexpress.in, believe that experience certainly matters a lot. The current Blues’ squad lacks team chemistry and experience. And, it is quite evident on the field too.

As per footballfancast.com, Nicolas Jackson may lose his place in the Chelsea lineup after his poor outing against Man City. They further claim that the 18-year-old former Barcelona star Marc Guiu may get his chance. At the same time, media are being quick to target the Blues after their poor showing. Owner Todd Boehly has made an investment of billions. And, it hasn’t paid off at all until now. Many believe the London side are in the need of a quality striker. Perhaps splurging more and signing Victor Osimhen may finally do the trick for them.
