Chelsea vs Manchester City: Talking points

Chelsea will be playing Manchester City in their opening game of the Premier League. The two will be clashing at the Stamford Bridge. The Blues will be keen to begin their season with a win. And what better way to do it than to beat the defending champions? It will be a great game to watch. We will be seeing interesting matchups on the field. But, there could be some drama in the dugout too. Enzo Maresca was once the assistant of Pep Guardiola. Now, both of them will be leading their sides against each other. This could surely turn out to be a must-watch game on matchday 1 of the Premier League.

Chelsea will be keen to start their season with a win while Manchester City will be hoping to make things difficult for them. The Blues had a difficult time in 23/24. They were able to finish 6th in the league. But, Man Utd ended up stealing their UEL spot. The London side would also go on to lose EFL Cup to Liverpool. Meanwhile, City were great in the league once again. They would go on to make it 4-in-a-row. But, Arsenal gave them a tough fight until the end. Also, Real Madrid beat them in the UCL. To make things worse, they also lost to Man Utd in the FA Cup final. City will be keen to redeem themselves this campaign.

Chelsea vs Manchester City: Factors to consider

Morale of Chelsea and Manchester City will be keen in determining the result. On the one hand, the Blues had a not-so-great pre-season. They only managed to win 1 game. They also played against the Citizens. But, Pep’s side got the better of them, winning 4-2. Erling Haaland would even go on to score a hattrick. At the same time, their morale would be even higher. Pep’s side recently won the FA Community shield, beating Man Utd on penalties. But, it will very much be a game to watch as the Blues will put up a tough fight at home.

When we take a look at the head-to-head record, Chelsea have won more than Manchester City. But, that in now way diminishes the Citizens’ chance to win. They could still pretty much be walking away with the 3 points. As per en.wikipedia.org, the Blues have 48.1% chance of winning when they play the Citizens at home. Yet another stat that favors Maresca’s men. But, Pep’s team will also not be backing down. They know how to put up a fight. They will surely be making things tough for the London side.

What will the result be?

Chelsea will be aiming to field their best XI against Manchester City. We could see Pedro Neto making his first appearance for the Blues. As per theanalyst.com, the London side have a solid chance of finishing in the top 4 this season. No doubt, they are very strong on paper. But, will the team be able to click and find good chemistry remains to be seen. Fans have been posting about the possible lineup Maresca would use against the champions.

We feel that a slightly different formation will benefit Chelsea more against Manchester City. The Citizens will surely be on the attack time-and-time again. So, back four makes more sense for us. We will go for a 4-3-3. Cucurella and Gusto as the full backs. Adarabioyo instead of Colwill at the heart of the back four. Romeo Lavia in place of Jackson in the starting XI. Fernandez, Caicedo and Lavia in the midfield. Then, P. Neto and Cole Palmer on the flanks. And, Nkunku starting at the center. We strongly feel that this lineup could make a real game. As per the results, a draw seems quite likely. But, we might be treated to some goals.
