On June 13, Fabrizio Romano posted a new “here we go” deal on his social media as Chelsea verbally agreed to sign Brazilian 2006-born right back Pedro Lima from Sport Recife. After Chelsea signed Tosin Adarabioyo from premier league side Fulham on a free transfer earlier this month, the Blues agreed to sign this Brazilian. Chelsea and Real Madrid both were battling to sign Lima. But the Blues were able to beat the Champions League winner in the transfer battle.
Pedro Lima’s Future
But here is a catch. After the deal, Pedro Lima is going to join Strasbourg instead of Chelsea. Chelsea comes under a consortium called BlueCo led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. The consortium acquired Chelsea in May 2022 before reaching an agreement to become shareholders of the French second-division club Strasbourg Alsace. After this takeover the Blues have gone through a massive squad transformation, spending a whopping 747M on transfer last season. Pedro Lima is their latest recruitment to build a super Chelsea team in the future.

According to Romano, Pedro Lima’s deal will be done via BlueCo side Strasbourg with a 7M transfer fee and 3.5 M add-ons. The seventeen-year-old right-back made 26 appearances for Sport Recife and bagged two goals in all competitions. Lima also made five appearances for Brazil uU17 in the FIFA U-17 last year.
The Brazilian will start his European football career in the French second division after the completion of the deal. However, it is expected that after some time, Lima will join the Blues to play premier league football in the future. So, for right now the Chelsea fans have to wait for this Brazilian sensation. It’s not welcome to Chelsea for Lima, it’s welcome to Strasbourg. Perdo Lima is only 17 years old now. So, he will be eligible to go to Europe this summer when he will turn 18 on July 1.
The Blues is investing a massive amount of money in youngsters. Chelsea previously purchased two young Brazilian-Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel and sent them to Strasbourg for a loan spell. It seems like Pedro Lima also follows the same path as his fellow countrymen followed. The French second-division side’s fans felt their club was being transformed into a farm team for the Blues. But the premier league giants used their young signing brilliantly before introducing them into the Premier League football.
