Chelsea are willing to spend as high as €100 million to sign Barcelona star this summer. This is not the first time the Blues have expressed interest in him. However, it will not be easy for them to lure the player away from Spanish club.
The star in question here is Jules Kounde who first appeared on the radar of Chelsea in 2022. But, Kounde opted to join Barca instead of the Blues that time. He has since played 124 games for the Spanish club and is now their one of the most important players.
Chelsea are still interested in signing Kounde this summer. As per Sport, they are prepared to spend as high as €100 million to lure him away from Barca. However, it will be very hard for them to land the 26 year old.

Despite being offered €100 million, Barca are unwilling to part ways with Kounde. They value the 26 year old very much and are keen to keep him. In addition, they are also planning to extend his contract.
As of now, Barca have tief Kounde until 2027 and have €1 billion release clause. They are now willing to extend it even further until 2030. He will be offered new contract once Raphinha extends his stay from 2027 to 2029.
Kounde plays as right-back for Barca and is one of the best in the world in that position right now. The Spanish giants have also told him to play as centre-back whenever required. The Frenchman is happy with the club and hence it seems like Chelsea might lose on him once again this summer.
Chelsea would have loved to add Kounde to their squad due to his versatality. But, they can be forced to monitor other options. However, nothing is predictable in football and hence the Blues can still stay optimistic that they can land Kounde in summer.
