Chelsea are working hard to lure one young attacker away from Barcelona this summer. They have a key plan to convince the player to join them.
The star in question here is Fermin Lopez. He is 21 years old and has came up through Barca’s academy. He became the first-team member last season where he played 42 games for Barca and recorded 11 goals in them.
Lopez can play in variety of positions. He is mainly an attacker and plays as attacking midfielder or left winger. But, he is also able to play as midfielder which makes him key player for Hansi Flick.
Fermin is playing a major role once again this season. He has played 25 games under Flick and has recorded 5 goals along with 5 assists. Barcelona are surely unwilling to part ways with him anytime soon.
Chelsea keen to sign Fermin Lopez in summer
Despite Barca’s plans, the Blues are showing a lot of interest in Fermin Lopez. They are keen to sign him this summer and are working out on plan to do so. As per El Nacional, they are willing to offer the 21 year old twice his current salary.
Lopez may be convinced by the offer as earning twice as much as now will be a major step up. However, he may also opt to stay with Barca as it is his boyhood club and it will be his dream to win major titles with them.
Chelsea do have plenty other options in the market. Hence losing out on Fermin won’t affect them very much. They have sights on other young players like Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho. It will be interesting on who the club will bring in this summer. Head coach Enzo Maresca will play a major role in recruitment process.
