Chelsea young talent Cesare Casadei is on the verge of leaving the London based club in January. The 21-year-old midfielder was one of those players, who were left out of Maresca’s plans, earlier this summer. However, his sudden appearance as a starter in the EFL cup third round clash against Barrow surprised the fans.
Cesare has played youth football with various clubs in his home country Italy. Before moving to Chelsea in 2022, he has played for Inter Milan u-19’s too. Due to Chelsea star packed midfield, the Italian never got the chance to show his caliber. Cesare spent most of the time out of the Blues camp since his joining. Chelsea send him on loan to second division club Reading FC, where he made his professional career debut.
After his return to the squad in 2023, Cesare was again sent on loan to Leicester City, who were relegated the previous season. There he played under current Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. The Italian was pretty good for the Foxes as he bagged 2 goals in 22 appearances for them. Cesare was one of the key players behind Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League this season. However, Cesare was frozen out by Maresca from the first-team blues squad, along with the likes of Chilwell, Sterling and Chukwuemeka.
Cesare’s sudden start against Barrow
Various notable incidents happened for the Blues in the Carabao cup clash against Barrow. One of those incidents are the inclusion of Cesare to the starting xi. Everyone was thinking that Chilwell will get his debut start of the season after his comeback to the Chelsea squad. But the surprise introduction of Cesare stunned the fans. It seemed like they almost forgotten him amongst those ‘bomb squad’ member names.
However, Cesare did his job really well. He started alongside his former Foxes teammate Dewsbury-Hall in a double pivot formation. In the post-match press-conference Maresca praised the young lad for his performance. After this game a new wave of interest has stood up for Cesare. The media has already started to talk about Cesare and his future.
Gameplay analysis of the midfielder
Cesare can play as a central or defensive midfielder. He is defensively very strong and never hesitates to commit a tackle when needed. The 21-year-old is also a good presser, who knows how to use his body in duels. Along with the defensive abilities his intelligence on the pitch is very visible.
Cesare’s off the ball movement is also good. As he gets himself on many goal scoring positions. His shooting and heading qualities makes him a great midfielder. Cesare’s play style is similar to Jude Bellingham’s, who is good at almost everything. Cesar can be a great player in the upcoming years. But he needs to find a way to play more games and perform consistently to do so.
Italian giant keen to sign Cesare
According to the reports of Milan Live, Seria A giant AC Milan are interested in the 21-year-old Chelsea player. Cesare, who never got the chance to showcase his talent in the Blues shirt, is considered as a great talent in Italy. As he is an important player for the Gli Azzurri‘s u-21 squad.
Milan has had some success signings from Chelsea in the past few years. As Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been sensational for Milan so far this season. So, the Rossoneri‘s would not hesitate to invest on another player from the Blues, in the form of Cesar, who is such a young prospect.
Chelsea signed the Italian from Inter for €15million. So, they would not accept lower than that for Cesare. And a loan move is also off the cards as Chelsea wants to be clear with the midfielder. It would be interesting to see what happens in the winter transfer window with the situation regarding Cesare. And another question that arises is, will Cesare get more opportunity under Maresca this season?
