Chennaiyin FC 0-0 SC East Bengal : SCEB hold Chennayin to a stalemate

Chennaiyin FC continued their unbeaten streak as they were held to a 0-0 draw by SC East Bengal. Meanwhile, the struggles for SC East Bengal(SCEB) continue as they failed to win a match again. SCEB have now played 4 matches and have accumulated a total of only 2 points.

Chennaiyin are now on top of the table after winning two and drawing one out of their 3 matches. This was only the third fixture between the two teams , the previous two ending up in stalemates as well.

Chennaiyin started the first half brightly and were right at it from the start. In the 8th minute, Rahim Ali set up Murzaev for a sitter who shot straight at the keeper Suvam Sen, who stood tall and kept SCEB in the game. Chennaiyin continued to press for a goal. In the 10th minute, Chhangte found some space and tested Sen again. Yet again the keeper was up to the task and was quick to stop his effort.

In the 20th minute, Rahim Ali escaped his marker with some quick feet before setting the ball for Chhangte. His shot taken directly of the pass rebounded off the keeper. However, the ball found its way to Murzaev who once again laid it off for Chhangte who shot wide from the target. Chhangte was at it again when he almost forced an own goal in the 25th minute.

In the 35th minute, Murzaev was wasteful again as he found himself in space and only managed to hit the side netting. SCEB did not manage to get a single shot on target in the first half. Both teams ended the first half without troubling the scorer. The 50th minute saw Rahim Ali outjump the giant Mrcela, however, his efforts were of no use as he missed the target again.

Rahim Ali continued his poor showing in front of goal. A mistake from Suvam Sen saw the ball travel to Ali, who again was off target with his shot. SCEB created their first chance of the match in the 64th minute when a cross from the left flank found Dervisevic who failed to trouble the keeper. A night of missed chances for Chennayin, who failed to break the deadlock after dominating possession.
