Paris Saint Germain announced the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino and Christophe Galtier has officially taken over the reigns from the Argentine. Galtier has signed a deal until 2024 with the French champions who have failed miserably in Europe time after time. Galtier was the top candidate for Paris as he led Losc Lille to an incredible journey, getting his hands on the Ligue 1 title.
” I feel I am ready to accept the responsibilities and I am capable enough to do it. It will be difficult alone , but stronger working together as a team” , Galtier said. ” I like my playyers to work hard , be happy. I am very demanding which is why my teams perform. I am not very fond of big squads. Here the squad is too big which we will have to work upon. Dynamism is very important in today’s game.”,
he added.
Galtier’s coaching history goes back some time as he led Saint Etienne to their first trophy in 3 decades and also his famous Triumph over PSG as Lille ended their Ligue 1 title run. Originally, he is an admirer of the 4-4-2 system and is known to be an excellent talker and motivator. According to PSG’S new sporting director and Galtier’s old friend Luis Campos, Galtier is a master tactician and he can manage clubs in the Premier League also.
Will Galtier Be A Success At PSG?
The 55-year-old has experience with French football but will his lack of experience in the champions league that may cause PSG trouble? Even Mauricio Pochettino won the domestic double but European failure led to his sacking. Zinedine Zidane was the name in everyone’s mouth but no contact was there at all.
PSG then turned to the duo of Campos and Galtier who might take Paris to the next level. The duo has been working for years and are no strange to their expertise. From recruitment to player positions, all the decisions between them are calculated and proven to be great. The authority of Galtier and Campos might just be the solution for PSG’s superstar celebrity-like players to remind them of their job and professionalism.
” We believe in them. Team spirit is important and we want to remind everyone that no one is bigger than the club. Everyone has to respect the regulations in place”,
said President Al-khelaifi.
” There wont be any compromises. No member is bigger than the team. We have to use the talent in the right way and make sure to build a solid team. If players don’t fit in our way , the matter will be solved internally”,
said the new coach.
It will be interesting to see how this magic duo of Campos and Galtier works. Also, if they really do end up getting PSG their first UCL title with the star power they have got. Only time will tell how the heavyweights will be treated. Will it be just another year of players running the clubs or will the authority shift to someone else?
