As per reports, Newcastle is in the hunt to snatch Atletico Madrid’s deal to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.

Conor Gallagher is at the center of this summer’s biggest transfer saga involving Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. Regardless, this transfer season is full of happenings for the Chelsea side. We have seen new signings arriving at Stamford Bridge while a few leave. And for now, it seems there is still more to come and leave. One of the top names leaving is captain Conor Gallagher.

Many pursued the Gallagher service, but it seemed that Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid would ultimately have the edge. The side has reportedly sealed a deal with the Blues at a cost of £34 million.

However, with Samu Omorodion’s deal falling short, Gallagher’s move to Madrid also hung. The transfer depended on Omorodion joining the attack at Stamford Bridge but now that doesn’t seem to be happening.

With that said, can we get a new option coming for Chelsea and Gallagher?

Newcastle to enter the hunt for Conor Gallagher?

As per the latest reports from Fichajes, although Chelsea is working really hard to get the transfer over the line, the interest from Eddie Howe is mounting. If the Blues manage to get the deal over the line we could see the return of Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge.

The chances of Newcastle snatching the deal are increasing. Speculations arise that the Geordies can ‘hijack’ the deal which can provide the midfielder with clarity about his future. It is something he surely needs right now. Given that the season is just a few days away from starting, this must be frustrating for him as a player.

Regardless, now that Newcastle has all the plans to snatch away Atletico Madrid’s deal, Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell will be working really hard to get Gallagher on their side.

For the two years in which Gallagher was on Chelsea’s first team, he scored 10 goals while providing 10 assists in 95 games. He only has now 12 months left in his contract. The Blues don’t really want to lose a player like him but his transfer could help raise a lot of money for the club.

Conor Gallagher is back in London

Undoubtedly, Conor Gallagher is one of the most sought-after players in this summer transfer season, making it one of the reasons Newcastle is after him. Regardless, the deal is yet to move into the advanced stage so we will have to wait.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the 24 year old is back at Chelsea training alone apart from others. Following the collapse of his deal with Atletico Madrid, the team boss has said he will train in London for a while and will miss out on the opening game of this Premier League season against Manchester City.

Last Saturday, Madrid posted on X a picture of him. In the photo, Gallagher was standing at Wanda Metropolitano stadium saying that he was there to “finalize his transfer” for a reported 33 million pounds ($42.5 million).

However, the midfielder had to return to London since the other part of the deal which meant Samu Omorodion coming to Stamford Bridge fell apart.

Now that Gallagher is back we need to wait and see how his deal for the future proceeds. He was Chelsea’s Vice Captain last season and also capped for England in the Euros this year.
