Coveted winger Raheem Sterling in line for new deal at Man City

Man-in-form Raheem Sterling is reportedly in line for a new contract offer at Man City. It was not too long ago that Sterling’s future at the Etihad was shrouded in doubt.

Since then, the Englishman has drawn much interest from La Liga sides Barcelona and Real Madrid. But now the winger could be in a position to commit his long-term future to the Premier League titleholders.

As Fabrizio Romano stated, Man City gaffer Pep Guardiola gave the green light on offering Sterling a contract renewal. This campaign, Raheem Sterling has registered 13 goals with 4 assists from all competitions for Man City.

However, when the January transfer window opened, Barcelona emerged as a candidate to swoop him up. But the England international managed to play his way back into the squad. Now City wishes to refresh his deal – though they fancy a quick decision as Sterling’s current contract will run out in 2023.

Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez set to renew with Man City

Alongside Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez too are in for contract renewals. Both players’ deals are expected to culminate in the next 18 months or so.

Sources confirm that Guardiola has taken a stand and clearly stated to the City hierarchy that he wants to hold on to the trio. They all have been crucial in his plans over the course of the previous seasons.

The players and their representatives have already begun talks with the Champions dating back to the latter part of last year. At present, the club are eager to carry forward negotiations in the next few months.

City are optimistic for each of the players committing their future. However, negotiations are going on differently and all of them staying is uncertain. In a scenario where none of them can reach an agreement, they could likely be up for sale this summer.
