Cristiano Ronaldo did not get his wish for a transfer fulfilled this summer

The transfer market is going to end soon and the summer has been eventful, to say the least. Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, and Raheem Sterling are some of the high-profile names to have switched clubs. However, the most intriguing transfer saga belongs to the Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Real Madrid player has openly expressed his desire to leave Manchester United. The Portuguese captain wants to play in the UEFA Champions League and the Red Devils cannot offer this at the moment. However, the desire has not yielded any results for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The forward was linked to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, the transfer did not materialize as Bayern Munich instead signed Sadio Mane. Cristiano Ronaldo was also linked to Chelsea and Atletico Madrid this summer. The links with Chelsea were very strong as Jorge Mendes looked to secure a lucrative contract with a Champions League club.

The super agent approached multiple clubs this summer in an attempt to explain the commercial benefits of signing Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea vetoed a possible move for the striker. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid were not able to sign the striker due to financial constraints.

Hans-Joachim Watzke says signing Cristiano Ronaldo is not financially possible

Borussia Dortmund has been linked with a transfer for the Portuguese superstar in recent weeks. However, it was always speculation and no official statement was released by the club or the player in this relation. Borussia Dortmund has often signed young players and groomed them into stars of world football. However, it was for the first time that the club got linked with an established player.

The CEO of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke has now made a comment regarding the link. The CEO of the German club has ruled out the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the CEO, financially it is impossible for the German club to sign the Portuguese superstar.

The CEO has completely refuted the transfer links and emphasized that Borussia Dortmund’s transfer business is complete this summer. As a result, Cristiano Ronaldo is still at Manchester United as the Portuguese has not been able to find a suitor this summer. With the transfer window closing in a week, it is unlikely that Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to complete a transfer.
