Cristiano Ronaldo edging for a move away from Manchester United with Atletico Madrid in sight

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly frustrated with the surroundings at Manchester United. The Portuguese is disappointed by the management of the club and the commitment shown to success. The star forward was the main man last season for the Red Devils as the club ended a disappointing season in 6th position.

The Portugal captain has expressed his willingness to leave the club in order to play Champions League football. However, the superstar’s wages are not affordable for most clubs on the planet. Bayern Munich and Chelsea were considered possible options for the forward.

Bayern Munich director, Oliver Kahn has said that Cristiano Ronaldo does not suit the type of players the Bavarians are looking to sign. Meanwhile, Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly is interested to sign the marketable superstar. However, the first-team manager, Thomas Tuchel is not keen on signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. The German tactician is looking to strengthen his defence after the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Atletico Madrid is the only Champions League club interested in the forward in the current transfer market. However, wages are a big issue for the Rojiblancos. Atleti already have an army of players on high wages including Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent is willing to help Atleti in reducing the wage bill

Jorge Mendes is the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo since his transfer from Sporting CP to United in 2003. The super agent has offered Atletico Madrid help in offloading some high-earners to accommodate the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Atleti is willing to let Antoine Griezmann leave the club if it means signing the Portugal captain. However, the Frenchman is on loan from Barcelona and currently, there are no suitors for the forward. Saul is another player, the Rojiblancos is willing to offload to accommodate the signing of Ronaldo. However, as the midfielder did not have a successful loan spell with Chelsea, it seems unlikely that any club will be interested in luring the player away this summer.

Although, Jorge Mendes is one of the best agents in the sporting world. His contacts and ability to broker moves can help Atletico Madrid to achieve the improbable. It is apparent that the Portuguese will not give up on a move away from Manchester till the last day of the window.

It will be interesting to see if Jorge Mendes will be able to maneuver a move for the Portuguese superstar this summer. Will Cristiano Ronaldo play in the Champions League next season? Time will tell what destiny beholds for arguably the greatest of all time.
