Cristiano Ronaldo will face consequences for his indiscipline says Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United have started the season in a mixed fashion. The team has been hot and cold when it comes to their performances this season. The Red Devils sit at the 6th spot in the table currently. The Manager has struggled to integrate Cristiano Ronaldo into his system and the superstar has been often found on the bench this season.

The Portuguese international has also sparked controversy twice this season with his walking down the tunnel before the end of the game. Recently the legendary forward sparked similar controversy in the match against Tottenham Hotspur. Cristiano Ronaldo walked down the tunnel before the final whistle despite Manchester United winning the game 2-0.

Erik Ten Hag said in the post-match interview that he will deal with the issue later. The Manager wanted to talk about the match and the performance and not the incident involving the forward. However, nonetheless, the Dutch tactician did not seem affected by the incident and was calm as ever.

Erik Ten Hag has punished Cristiano Ronaldo for the incident

The Portuguese international was left out of the matchday squad for their visit to Chelsea. The superstar was also asked to train alone as a result of the incident against Spurs. Some reports surfaced that Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on against Tottenham Hotspur in their victory.

Erik Ten Hag was asked about the same in the press conference and the manager did not hesitate to speak. He confirmed that, yes, the player had indeed refused to come on in the match. The former Ajax boss ascertained that he is responsible for setting up the standards and building a culture at the club.

He went on to say that the culture is the same for everyone and despite his achievements, the Portuguese international is no different. The Manager ignored the first instance and did not take an action against the player. However, the second incident had to be penalized to send a message across the dressing room. It is said that Manchester United’s hierarchy backs the Manager 100% and have full faith in his abilities to lead this team!!
