On the last day of the summer transfer window Crystal Palace are looking to sign Jeremie Boga from Serie A. This is according to reports coming from Sky Italia.
Crystal Palace had a very excellent transfer window, where the club brought in exciting young talents. The club is now looking to add Boga to that list.
Boga has previously announced his desire to leave his current club Sassuolo. He only has one more year left in his contract. However, Crystal Palace will face a tough challenge to bring the 24-year-old to London as Champions League side Atalanta are also monitoring the player.
CRYSTAL PALACE WANTS EXCITING BOGA
Jeremie Boga is an excellent talent who has previously linked to top clubs like Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli. He was a Chelsea academy player, though he couldn’t find regular time with the club. After multiple loan spells, Boga finally joined Sassuolo in 2018 on a permanent deal.
The Ivorian is a very versatile player, who traditionally plays in the left-wing. A good dribbler of the ball, he also has decent finishing abilities. Boga has played 92 times for Sassuolo and has scored 18 times for them across all competitions. His best performance came in the 2019/20 season when he scored 11 and assisted for 5 goals in the Serie A.
Though he had a dip in the output last season, he had a bright start to the new one. Playing both the Serie A matches for his club, the winger has provided an assist for one goal. However, the player previously has told his intention to leave the club, and hence have not renewed his contract.
For Crystal Palace, Boga will provide more competition to Wilfried Zaha in the left wing. The club has made a good signing this season, emphasising more on bringing younger talent. They have also let many of the older players leave for free, helping to free up their massive wages. With the new manager Patrick Vieira, the Eagles will be looking to build a more attacking and exciting side for the future.
However, the club could miss out on Boga as Atalanta are also interested in the 24-year-old. The Italian side is one of the best-attacking teams in Europe and can offer Champions League football as well. With just hours left, this move will go down to the wire.
