Dani Alves Signs For Liga Mx Side UNAM

Dani Alves

Brazilian Dani Alves has departed from Barcelona. The Veteran’s 1-year contract ran out and the club decided to not renew it. Following this, Dani Alves has signed for Mexican side Pumas UNAM. The 39-year-old returned to Camp Nou in January and appeared for the Catalans 17 times.

Even at this age, Alves showed immense athleticism to play for his boyhood club again. The Brazilian proved he has a lot left in his tired legs even at this age. Despite Alves saying that he was open to extending his stay at the club, the defender was not offered a new deal.

However, the disappointment of not renewing with Barca did not hold the Brazilian back from trying a new challenge. The defender shortly after announced that he had signed for Liga MX side UNAM. The club also made a special announcement to announce the signing of Alves for 1 year.

Alves Disappointed with Barca’s treatment of Legends

Dani Alves did not hide his frustration after his contract at Barca was not extended. The defender was not shy in criticizing the way his club treats Legends. The Right back felt disrespected about how his exit was handled by the management.

It is not the first time that Barcelona has been criticized for how they have handled veterans. Lionel Messi was also not happy with how his departure was handled and hit out at the Management. It will be interesting to see how the club handles the departures of Pique, Busquets, and the rest of the veterans when the time comes.
