Darren Sidoel Player Profile: East Bengal’s latest signing eager to impress

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Darren Sidoel is East Bengal’s final signing of this transfer window. The youngster is a product of the famed Ajax youth academy and has already created a buzz among the fans. He is the 5th overseas player East Bengal have recruited this season. Amri Dervi (midfielder), Tomislav Mrcela (defender), Franjo Prce (centre back) and Daniel Chima Chukwu (striker) are the other 4 signings.

A defensive midfielder who can play centre back, Darren is a very flexible player. Apart from the Netherlands, he has played in England, Bulgaria, Belgium and Spain. He has struggled with game time at his previous clubs and will be raring to go at East Bengal.

The former I- League side had an abysmal first season in the Indian Super League. Despite having the 7th highest goal-scorer of the Premier League, Robbie Fowler, as their manager, they failed to set an impression. East Bengal recently announced the arrival of new manager Manuel Diaz springing hope for a better second season.

Manager Manuel Diaz seems to have narrowed down at East Bengal’s defensive issues to start off with. He has coached players like Kepa Arrizabalaga and many others at youth levels and thus will look to bring that disciple to Salt Lake Stadium.

About Darren Sidoel

Manuel Diaz has previously coached Darren during his time at Hercules. Though the player never got a minute on the pitch, Diaz is impressed with the players attitude. The pair have a very good understanding and Diaz believes that Darren will be a key member due to his versatility. He is just 23 and will have to the Indian Super League to make his presence felt.

Having played at so many leagues that ask for different skill sets, Darren should not find it hard to gel with the pace and atmosphere. East Bengal have done their homework this transfer window and it all boils down to the players and staff.
