About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

David Alaba is no secret to football fans all over the world. The Austrian has stamped his name in bold letters as one of the best defenders of his generation. Alaba switched to Real Madrid last season after his contract ended with Bayern Munich. Alaba won 10 Bundesliga titles and 2 Champions League trophies in his years as a Bayern Player. In his first ever season as Los Blanco, he was pivotal for Real Madrid to win the La Liga and the Champions League.

The 30-year-old scored the opening goal in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Super Cup.

However, his Nigerian roots are still a secret to football fans. Alaba was born in 1992 in Vienna, Austria. His father is a Nigerian prince, while his mother is a Filipino nurse.

David Alaba’s amazing gesture.

However, after finding incredible success in European football, Alaba is not trying to reconnect to his Nigerian roots. According to Soccernet, David Alaba has undertaken a yet-to-be specified philanthropic action in Nigeria.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, revealed the said act in her tweet. In the tweet, she congratulated the player for winning the Super Cup and announced the plans.

“David Alaba made us all proud yesterday by winning the European Super Cup with his new club Real Madrid. He scored the first goal of the match. David is currently embarking on a philanthropic project in Nigeria to be launched soon.”

David Alaba had chosen to represent Austrian in international football. He has represented Austrian in all the youth categories. He made his debut for the Austrian senior football team in October 2009. In the match against France, he became the youngest player to represent Austria.

He captained the Austrian Euro 2020 team to the quarter-finals.

In 2021 he donated 16.3 million Naira ( the Nigerian currency) to help eradicate open defecation in Nigeria.

Alaba, a footballer with an open heart, will be one of the essential parts of the Real Madrid backline this season.
