Chelsea are doing really well since Enzo Maresca took over as head coach. They have continued their fine form and are now sitting on third place in the Premier League.
Despite the good form, the Blues are still lacking in defence. They have conceded 14 goals in 12 league games. The board has noticed this issue and are willing to make big moves next year.
Earlier, it was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the Blues have set eyes on many defensive options. Two of them are Barcelona defenders – Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde.
Barca are also doing really well since the start of the season. They are on the 1st place in La Liga. Kounde has already established himself as a key component for Hansi Flick.
Araujo is yet to play under Flick but is viewed as future of Barca. The Spanish club have no intention to sell any of these defenders. But, the Blues don’t want to give up the fight and hence have taken a big decision.
Chelsea prepared to spend big on Kounde and Araujo
As per TEAMtalk, the Blues are ready to spend as much as €150 million to sign the Barcelona duo. This will make it very hard for Barca to reject the offer due to their ongoing financial crises.
Kounde has already been linked with Chelsea before. He can play as centre back and as a right back too which will make him key asset at Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman can replace Reece James who has been highly injury prone.
Araujo has already established himself as a highly rated centre back. He has had some key battles with some of world’s best attackers and have even emereged victorious in those. He will undoubtedly be an upgrade on any of current Chelsea defenders.
