Dele Alli to revive his career at Everton under Lampard

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Dele Alli joined Everton from Tottenham Hotspur on the winter transfer market deadline day. The 25-year-old midfielder is the second major signing for the Toffees alongside Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.

The English international has been highly appreciated by the newly appointed Everton head coach Frank Lampard. Thus, it would be a new beginning for Lampard alongside his new signings and a new bunch of players.

Alli had joined for a two-and-a-half years contract that expires in 2024. Additionally, his departure alongside Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, and Giovani Lo Celso paved way for Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

A new chapter for Dele Alli at Everton

Dele Alli has been one of the finest young midfielders during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign as Spurs head coach. However, since he left, Alli had been underperforming under his successors at the North London club.

He began his footballing career at his hometown club Milton Keynes Dons. At MK Dons, he made 88 appearances scoring 24 goals and assisting 15 goals. However, he completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur back in 2015 aged just 19.

Since then, he scored 67 goals and assisted 61 times in 269 appearances for the Lilywhites. However, he had been low on confidence during his stint at the Premier League giants.

But, he has now a huge opportunity to gain confidence and perform well under his new coach and in a new club. Lampard spoke highly about Dele Alli way back in 2017, after a brilliant performance in the 4-0 win over Watford.

“He’s got the knack for runs, he scores great goals, he was running into the six-yard box and too many attacking midfield players get towards the penalty spot and stop and don’t go that extra mile.” – Frank Lampard.

On the other hand, the English midfield maestro is excited about working with the former Chelsea legend. In a recent interview, he said,

“Working with Frank and the amazing players here, it’s a very attacking way of playing football, that’s what I like to do, to be on the front foot, win tackles, get in the box and score goals.”

Everton are currently struggling in the league after an impressive start. They are placed 16th in the standings and would be facing Brentford in the FA Cup 4th round on Saturday.
